I’ve started ‘Mic’ a regular meetup for Podcast creators and lovers in and around Manchester (for now).
Mic is dead informal, chilled and doesn’t like a fuss – and the first one is on the 29th November in Manchester.
The idea came about* because there’s not much of this oop North, despite the incredible amount of podcasting talent here. I also started Mic, because podcasting can also be quite a solitary existence, whether you’re spending hours editing on your own, or that your friends and family just don’t have the same podcasting bug as you.
I understand the horrors of networking
They’ll be no gimmicks, simply a room and some awesome podcast geeks talking about what they love. I really hate networking, I honestly can’t stand it (although I know, first-hand the incredible opportunities it can bring). I’m a massive extrovert, introvert, so speaking to people in general gives me the horrors, let alone new people. So I want Mic to be a comfortable place to make new connections, collaborations and buddies.
Mic is all about sharing too, so at each one there’s going to be some guests from the podcast and audio world, who’ll do a QnA and chat to you about their journey and what not.
I’m so chuffed that Mic #1 has 2 bad-ass podcasters who’ll be talking all things pod; the awesome Sam Walker, a broadcaster (BBC 5Live, Radio Manchester…) who has her own audio production company called ‘What Goes On Media‘ and the top Emma Goswell a broadcast journalist (Gaydio, BBC Radio Manchester), who recently launched her podcast ‘Coming Out Stories’.
Plus, as a triple treat Mic #1 is going to be one of the first events held at the brand new 33 Oldham Street bar (opened by the guys behind Kendal Calling & Bluedot Festival)
See you there?
It’d be proper smashing to see you there over a pint.
